How much do Georgian style houses cost per square feet (approximately)?

A Georgian style house does tend to fall on the more expensive side of houses. The average cost per square feet will be around $150. Georgian style houses typically have a large amount of square feet starting around 1,500. This falls on the small side when it comes to a Georgian style home. A 1,500 square feet home will cost around $225,000.

Are there Georgian style floor plans with a detached garage?  Is it possible?

Yes, it is possible to have a Georgian style home with a detached garage. It is not a typical design for this style house, but you can find them. Usually, you find detached garages with a house that has a large amount of square feet.

Does Georgian style house usually come with a garage?  

Yes, Georgian style houses usually have a garage, however the entry of the garage may be on the side or in the back of the house. A Georgian style house is all about symmetry, so the front of the garage will look like the other side of the house from the outside, which may not allow for the garage entry to be in the front of the house.

Is Georgian style considered a grand or luxury style of home?  Is the style used for mansions or normally regular-sized homes?

A Georgian style house is intended to be grand. Even the Georgian style houses that are on the smaller side, or a regular sized home still have a grand look to them.

Is Georgian style ever built as a “small” home?  Can it be built economically?

A Georgian style home can be small, like a cottage, however, it may not be any less expensive per square feet. It will be more economical because it is smaller. It will still have the same detailing and style that gives a Georgian style home its grand look.

Can a Georgian style floor plans be open concept?

The traditional style of a Georgian floor plan was not truly open concept. It has large rooms that move into others, but many rooms have walls around them. Within the past 10 years or so, there has been movement towards open floor plans, or at least partially open floor plans in Georgian style homes.

What are popular Georgian style exterior colors?

Most often, the Georgian style homes will have exterior colors of white, yellow, or a Spanish brown. The typical colors for trim are an offwhite, such as sandstone, or a true white. Today, you may find trim that is black, gray, or blue.

The Georgian style house can be a bit rustic or a bit contemporary. Those styles can be achieved with accents. The main components of this style are grand in design. The style is inspired by Roman architecture with alcoves and niches. You will see columns throughout the house. You will find iron, stone, and marble throughout these homes.
